A nitrogen-rich covalent organic framework for simultaneous dynamic capture of iodine and methyl iodide

چکیده

Summary The capture of radioiodine species during nuclear fuel reprocessing and accidents is crucial for safety, environmental protection, public health. Previously reported emerging materials iodine uptake cannot outperform commercial zeolites active carbon under the practical dynamic scenario. Herein, we present a new design philosophy aiming at significantly enhanced specific host-guest interactions obtain nitrogen-rich covalent organic framework material by introducing bipyridine group into building block simultaneous both gas through electron-pair effect iodide via methylation reaction. These efforts give rise to not only an ultrahigh capacity 6.0 g g−1 record-high value 1.45 methyl static sorption conditions but also, more importantly, loading capability demonstrated from breakthrough experiments.
